Orion Minerals NL is an Australian Securities Exchange listed company that is focused on acquiring, exploring and developing large tenement holdings or regional scale mineral opportunities in world-class mineral provinces.
Orion recently acquired an effective 73.33% interest in a portfolio of South African projects, including an advanced volcanic massive sulphide zinc-copper exploration project with near-term production potential at the Prieska Zinc-Copper Project, located near Copperton in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, and the Marydale Gold-Copper Project, a virgin gold discovery of possible epithermal origin, located 60 km from the Prieska Zinc-Copper Project.


In addition to the Prieska Zinc-Copper Project and Marydale Gold-Copper Project, Orion has entered into options and earn-in rights agreements over a large area in the highly prospective Areachap belt, North Cape Province of South Africa. This has secured an outstanding growth and diversification opportunity for Orion. Agreements entered into include an earn in right to ultimately earn a 73% interest in a prospecting right area located approximately 80km north of the Prieska copper Project and an earn in right to ultimately earn an 80% interest, via a South African registered special purpose vehicle which will be 74% owned by Orion, to prospecting and mining right applications.
Power Matla is also a direct BBBEE shareholder in the Prieska Zinc-Copper Project and the Marydale Gold-Copper Project.

Dorper Wind Farm (RF) Pty Ltd was selected as a preferred bidder under round 1 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) run by the South African Government’s Department of Energy (DoE).


In November 2012 Dorper Wind Farm (RF) Pty Ltd signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Eskom, and associated agreements with the DoE. The Dorper Wind Farm site is located almost midway between the towns of Sterkstroom and Molteno (see map), within the Inkwanca Municipality.


The wind farm consists of 40 Nordex 2.5MW wind turbines, having a nominal aggregate production output of 100MW. Dorper Wind Farm successfully achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) on 09 August 2014.


The wind farm is connected to the Eskom Distribution Network which transverses the project site and will supply Eskom with power, as an Independent Power Producer (IPP) under a 20 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
